Al Arabiya has aired a short film about Readers Corner, one of Downtown Cairo’s best-known historic bookshops.
The shop has operated for more than 76 years and is known for its collection of rare art books, vintage publications and distinctive paintings.
Readers Corner was founded by the father of its current owner, Chris Mikayelian, who continues to manage the business and is widely known as the “Egyptian Khawaga”.
The short film explored the bookshop’s long history and its role in preserving artistic and cultural works in the heart of Cairo.
Mikayelian said Readers Corner remains committed to promoting Egyptian art and supporting emerging artists.
“We encourage Egyptian art and support young artists,” he said.
Through its rare collections and continued support for creative talent, Readers Corner has maintained its place as an important cultural destination in Downtown Cairo.
