Egyptian pop star Ramy Sabry has achieved critical success with his new album, "El Qamar" ("The Moon"), which topped digital streaming charts across Egypt and the Arab world within hours of its launch.

The 13-track album secured immediate placement at the top of major music platforms, including Anghami, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Music.

The tracks "Ayamy" and "Law Teaaraf" were the album's top-performing songs, dominating the most-listened-to lists.

Short-form video content and promotional clips from the album generated millions of views and high engagement rates across TikTok and Instagram reels immediately following the release.

"El Qamar" is produced by Sabry, who also composed four tracks on the album: "Falta," "Lesa Baky Alek,""Bafraha’k W Enta Teza’lny," and "Mawsem El Seif."

In the new album, Sabry collaborates with a large number of poets and composers, including Mohamed Yehia, Tamer Hussein, Aziz El Shafei, Madian, Amr El Khodary, and more.

Music critics have praised the record's stylistic diversity, noting that it spans romance, drama, upbeat rhythms, and traditional Egyptian folk music.

Adressing the speculation regarding rhythmic similarities in the track "Baba," music critic Mahmoud Fawzy cleared Sabry of plagiarism allegations.

Fawzy clarified that the composition relies on an authentic Egyptian "wrapping" (Malfoof) rhythm combined with Arish Bedouin folklore and a live mizmar.

He attributed any perceived similarities to other tracks to the overall rarity of this specific traditional rhythm in contemporary commercial music rather than intentional duplication.

Critic Mustafa Hamdi additionally commended the album, labeling it the most diverse release since last summer due to the wide array of musical styles featured across its 13 tracks.
