Egyptian actor Ahmed Mekky's comedy hit TV series “Al-Kabir Awy” has been renewed for season 8.
The series is set to debut in the Ramadan 2024 drama marathon.
Season 7 of “Al-Kabir Awy” premiered last month and featured the return of previous cast members such as Mekky, Bayoumi Fouad, Hisham Ismail, Mohamed Salam, Hussein Abo Hagag, Rahma Ahmed Farag, Moustafa Gharieb, and Abdel Rahman Taha.
It also featured several A-listers making a cameo including Ahmed El Sakka, Nour, Kamal Abu Raya, Alaa Morsi, Mostafa Abo Sreaa, Ayten Amer, Mohamed Barakat, Mohamed Zidan, and Mohamed Mahmoud.
The series was written by Mustafa Saqr, directed by Ahmed El-Gendy, and produced by the Synergy production company.
“Al-Kabir Awy” made its debut in 2010. It revolved around the Mayor of the Mazarita village, in upper Egypt, who discovers that he has other siblings.
The series achieved great success and became one of the best comedy series that screened annually during Ramadan. It was renewed in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2022, and 2023.
