The Cairo Opera Orchestra, led by Maestro Ahmed Farag, will perform live at the Cairo Opera House's Grand Theatre, on Sunday, January 21.
The event will be held at 08:00 PM (Cairo local time) and feature the group presenting a selection from Rageh Daoud’s masterpieces including soundtracks for TV productions such as "Al Ragol al Talet", "Hawanem Garden City", and "The Kit Kat".
Daoud, born on November 23, 1954, is one of the most prominent composers of film soundtracks in Egyptian cinema.
He is a professor at the Higher Institute of Music and obtained a BA at the Conservatory in Music Composition in 1977, a Postgraduate Diploma, and a Higher Arts Certificate from the Vienna Academy of Music.
Daoud founded the Al-Hanager String Orchestra and led it from 1994 to 1999. He participated in the annual Mediterranean Music Festival in Palermo, Italy, in 1997 and 1998.
The veteran composer served as a member of many international competition jury committees, including the annual International Contemporary Music Competition held in Rome since 2001, and some music arbitration committees for the Supreme Council of Culture since 2001.
