Qena Hosts 1st Edition of Dendera Music Festival

Under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s and Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, is organizing activities of the first edition of Qena Festival for Music and Singing in Dendera Temple, Qena Culture Palace and the University of South Valley.

The festival will run for 6 consequential days from 27 February to 3 March.

This festival is the first cultural and artistic festival to be held in Qena with the support of Dr. Khaled Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Governor of Qena, Major General Ashraf Gharib and South Valley University.

The Minister of Culture indicated that the festival represents a new gate of soft power in Upper Egypt to affirm the state’s belief in the role of creativity in building inpidual and society.

The minister added that the event aims to achieve cultural justice and spread the banners of enlightenment to reshape awareness and to confront intolerance in all its forms.

She said that the festival is a positive model for the solidarity of national state institutions to present a product of integration between various ministries and cultural organizations.

The integration includes Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, the Egyptian Opera House headed by Dr. Magdy Saber, the General Organization of Culture Palaces headed by Dr. Ahmed Awad and the Tourism Promotion Authority.

She announced that this experiment will extend to various governorates of Egypt and that the next station will be in Sharkia governorate, aiming at using soft power in shaping inpidual and act as an effective tool to show the civilized face of Egyptian culture and arts.

It is noteworthy that the activities of Qena Festival for Music and Singing include presenting artistic performances of Arab singers and Ensembles including Medhat Saleh, Ali Al-Hajjar, Dina Al-Wedidi, Mai Farouk, Mohamed Mohsen and “ Massar Egbary “ Ensemble ,” Black Tema” Ensemble, “ West Al Balad “Ensemble.
