Ambassador of Qatar to Egypt Salem bin Mubarak al-Shafi stressed the importance of the participation of Qatari publishing houses in the activities of the 53rd edition of the Cairo International Book Fair, considering it an opportunity to enhance cultural co-operation between the two countries.
In statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the ambassador said that the participation of Qatari publishing houses in the exhibition's activities comes within the framework of the distinguished relations that bind the leadership and peoples of the two countries, and represents an enrichment of culture and a promotion of knowledge exchange between Arab peoples, and other countries, especially that the current edition of the exhibition is attended by about 51 Arab and foreign countries.
He explained that culture is the basic means of acquaintance between peoples, and it is the way to correct wrong stereotypes, consolidate the principle of acceptance of other, respect for different opinions and ideas, and promote dialogue on all issues and topics of concern to humanity.
The 53rd edition of Cairo International Book Fair is held under the theme 'Egypt's identity, culture and the question of future'. The 53rd session returns with Cairo International Book Fair to its original date at the end of January of each year, after the last edition of the fair was held exceptionally during the month of June 2021 due to the global pandemic.
