The Qasr Al-Nil Misdemeanor Court has acquitted Egyptian actress Gihan El Shamashergy and four other co-defendants of all charges relating to armed robbery and coercion.
The ruling was delivered following a thorough review of the case files and after hearing closing arguments from both the defense council and the public prosecution.
El Shamashergy had surrendered herself to court security on Thursday morning in compliance with a prior judicial order mandating her appearance.
They faced charges of conspiracy, aggravated theft, and using physical force to seize properties from a victim's apartment.
The investigations revealed that the defendants premeditated the crime, utilized a vehicle to flee the scene, and injured the victim with the getaway car when she attempted to intervene.
The investigations revealed that the accused acted with premeditation, orchestrating the operation before arriving at the scene by vehicle to seize the contents of the apartment.
The investigation further detailed that when the victim attempted to intervene and block their escape, the driver of the getaway vehicle ran her over, inflicting physical injuries before the suspects successfully fled the scene with the property.
The defendants also faced charges for the unauthorized possession of a hammer, an offensive weapon utilized during the commission of the crime.
The final verdict effectively clears El Shamashergy and the four other co-defendants of all criminal liability regarding the incident.
