This morning, Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly inspected the worksite of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
Madbouly was accompanied by Dr Khaled Al-Anani, minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr Asim Al-Jazzar, minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Major General Ahmed Rashid, Governor of Giza, and Dr Mustafa Waziri, secretary-general of the Supreme Council General Atef Moftah, General Supervisor of the Museum Project.
Madbouly began his tour stressing the importance of keeping precautionary measures in all worksites of the Grand Egyptian Museum project.
Mabdouly emphasised on the adherence to sterilization procedures, to protect workers from getting contracted the Coronavirus.
These measures were confirmed by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, who indicated that many successive measures have been taken, consistent with the state's measures, to confront the pandemic.
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities asked to bring an integrated medical team to conduct Coronavirus tests for all project workers, in addition to stressing that no one is allowed to enter the site before the temperature is measured, and this is to be done daily.
Dr. Madbouly began addressed the workers of the Grand Egyptian Museum project by saying: "You are contributing with your hands to build a global, cultural, archaeological, civilizational and tourism edifice. Egypt is not building just a museum, but it is building a large complex of Egyptian culture, antiquities and civilization."
The prime minister Stressed that this project has a continuous follow-up and guidance from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and directives not to stop work until it is completed in an impressive, civilized manner.
On his part, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities gave a presentation about the Grand Egyptian Museum.
He indicated that the museum is built on an area of 500,000 square meters, and the visitor's path to the Grand Egyptian Museum begins by entering from the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road to the main entrance square, which is the Egyptian obelisk square that covers an area of 27,000 square meters.
In front of it, the "wall of the pyramids", is 600 meters wide and 45 meters high, from which the visitor enters the building, which consists of two main blocks: the museum building to its left (south side) with a total area 92,623 square meters, and the conference building to its right (on the north side) with a total area of 40,609 square meters.
The two blocks are connected by the entrance hall, where the statue of King Ramses the Great sits.
