Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly started a visit to Luxor Governorate this morning to inspect a number of projects being implemented in tourism, services and development fields.
The Premier was accompanied by Dr. Khaled El-Anany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Local Development, and Dr. Assem El-Jazzar, Minister Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Counselor Mostafa Elham, Governor of Luxor, Ma. Gen.Ahmed Fahmy, Director of Major Projects Department at the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, and officials of the relevant ministries.
Dr. Madbouly confirmed that the state, with all its agencies, provides all the resources necessary to hold a major celebration to promote Luxor Governorate under the title: "Luxor in its new dress", on the sidelines of the completion of the project to revive the road of the great processions in the Pharaonic era known as "The Road of Rams".
He stressed that President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, is following up on the preparations that are in full swing to hold this celebration to match the festivity of the procession of pharaonic mummies that dazzled the whole world.
The prime minister said that the large projects that the state is currently implementing in a number of archaeological areas in Luxor, which include the restoration of temples and the revival of Pharaonic monuments, will make Luxor an open museum that attracts the attention of tourists from all over the world.
The PM began the visit by inspecting the excavations started by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, under the palace of Tawfiq Pasha Andraos, adjacent to the Luxor Temple, which was demolished.
Among the ruins Roman bronze coins were dug, remnants of a Roman-era wall visible on the ground, a side of an old storeroom, and a number of other archaeological icons of some historical eras.
The Premier directed concerned officials to continue with the excavations at this distinguished archaeological site.
He and his companions also inspected the ongoing excavations in part of the building of the Church of the Virgin Mary, which was removed.
Dr. Mustafa Waziri presented the results of those excavations, noting that 3 distinct rams were extracted, including one of the most magnificent statues of rams found in this site.
Prime Minister also inspected the Karnak Temple, where he listened to an explanation from Dr. Khaled al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, about the development work in the temple.
