President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received the reactor of the University of Bucharest of Economic Studies and the accompanying delegation on Saturday at Ettahadiya Presidential Palace, eastern Cairo, according to Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Bassam Rady.
President Sisi and High Education Minister Khaled Abdul Ghaffar welcomed the Bucharest University delegation, led by Professor Nicolae Istudor.
“Sisi lauded the growing relationship between Egypt and Romania,” Rady said.
The spokesman added that the meeting discussed ways of enhancing cooperation in the field of education and culture between Egypt and Romania, especially through the exchange of scientific researches and scholarships, as well as the establishment of twinning agreements to facilitate academic cooperation between the University of Bucharest and a number of Egyptian universities with similar disciplines.
In June, the Bucharest University conferred an honorary doctorate on Egypt's Sisi, during his official visit to Romania.
That step came as recognition from the University of Sisi's role in leading Egypt during a hard period of unrest to a new stage of stability, development and construction, where deep structural reforms and academic reforms have been carried out in accordance with the international standards.
During the visit, Sisi noted that he hoped his visit to Romania would help enhance the ongoing academic cooperation between the two countries, through joint programs and scientific research projects.
On their part, the delegation’s members expressed their honor to meet with President Sisi, stressing that the granting an honorary doctorate to the Egyptian president is thanks to the role of His Excellency in leading Egypt during a difficult period of turmoil and crossing into a new stage of development and construction.
They also pointed out to the significant and tangible role of the president of Egypt in enhancing bilateral relations between Cairo and Bucharest, especially at the academic and cultural levels, praising Sisi’s keen interest in the comprehensive development of the Egyptian education system and raising the level of higher education.
