On the sidelines of his current official visit to Egypt, President Alexander Stubb of Finland and his accompanying delegation visited the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and the Giza Pyramids area, accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education. Upon their arrival at the GEM, they were received by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Museum Authority, who welcomed the guests and highlighted the museum’s unique halls and archaeological treasures. The delegation was then led on a detailed tour by Mr. Sherif El-Sayed from the museum’s public relations department, which included the outdoor plaza, the Grand Atrium, the Grand Staircase, and the King Tutankhamun galleries. President Stubb expressed his profound admiration for the museum’s unique artifacts and commended the exceptional exhibition narrative and design.

Following the museum tour, the Finnish President and his delegation proceeded to the Giza Pyramids plateau, where they were welcomed by Mr. Ashraf Mohie El-Din, Director General of Cairo and Giza Antiquities. During an inspection tour of the site, the delegation was briefed on the history of the area, its most significant archaeological discoveries, and the ongoing excavations. The Finnish President expressed his fascination with the Great Pyramid, inquiring about its construction methods and the transportation of its stones, ultimately describing it as an "engineering and architectural miracle." He concluded the visit by taking commemorative photos, expressing his hope to return and explore the entire archaeological site in the future.
