President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Amjad Al-Adayleh, Jordan's Ambassador to Cairo.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the Jordanian Foreign Minister conveyed to President El-Sisi the greetings of his brother, King Abdullah II of Jordan, which the President appreciated, stressing Egypt's pride in its close historical relations with Jordan at the official and popular levels, and their joint endeavor to continuously develop the frameworks of bilateral cooperation, in a way that achieves the aspirations of their brotherly peoples towards development and prosperity.

The official spokesman added that the meeting witnessed discussing the latest developments in the Egyptian and Jordanian efforts aimed at calming the region, as the two countries' firm position was confirmed regarding the necessity of intensifying serious international efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, and implementing the required quantities of humanitarian aid to save the region from a large-scale humanitarian crisis.

It was also stressed that the independent Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967 is the basic guarantor for achieving sustainable peace and stability in the region, while stressing the danger of the path of military escalation, which increases the complexity of the situation and pushes towards possibilities that seriously threaten regional security and the capabilities of the peoples of the region.
