Political Parties Nominate Candidates for President of Uzbekistan

In accordance with the current electoral legislation, political parties must submit to the Central Election Commission an application for participation in the election, a certificate from the Ministry of Justice on the registration of the party, and information about the future presidential candidate at least 70 days before the start of the election.

This week, the political parties of Uzbekistan discussed issues related to participation in the upcoming October 24 presidential election and the future candidate from the party.

At the meetings of the central committees of political parties, the following candidates have been nominated:

From the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Business People, the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan: the incumbent President of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

From the Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, Adolat: The vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Bahrom Abdukhalimov.

From the Democratic Party, Milliy Tiklanish: Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis - Leader of the faction in the lower house of Parliament Alisher Kadyrov.

From the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan: Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Health Protection of Citizens of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Maksuda Vorisova.

From the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan: Chairman of the Executive Committee Of the Central Council of the Party Narzullo Oblomurodov.

In accordance with Article No. 63 of the Electoral Code of Uzbekistan, the Central Election Commission reviews the documents submitted by the parties within five days, and if the application is satisfied, the authorized representatives of the parties issue a registration certificate and signature forms.

When these requirements are fulfilled, the issue of nominating a candidate is considered at the meetings of the parties.

Previously on July 29, 2021, the country's Central Election Commission registered authorized representatives of five political parties to participate in the presidential election in Uzbekistan.
