Prime Minister (PM) Moustafa Madbouly, accompanied by Tourism Minister Dr. Khaled Al-Anany, and Cairo Governor Maj. Gen Khaled Abdul Aal visited a number of regions in Historic Cairo to review their current situation on the ground and the details related to the development projects proposed to be implemented.
This came within the framework of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's mandates to intensify work on projects to revive historic Cairo and restore its splendor and civilized appearance while preserving all archaeological buildings and architectural heritage.
During his tour, PM inspected El-Khayameya street and Wekalet El-Ghoury, confirming the state's commitment to preserving all areas of Historic Cairo, which represents its cultural treasure with its rich architectural and cultural heritage that witnessed various historical eras.
Moreover, Madbouly stressed that the proposed development projects aim at restoring the role of Cairo as a living city for heritage, housing, and culture, a center of civilization, and a tourist destination, in addition to its role as a center for crafts and traditional industries.
In this regard, the primer also inspected a number of wood industry workshops in the region to determine their quality and ways to preserve and develop them.
The head of the Islamic and Coptic Antiquities sector confirmed that the proposed plan to develop the region includes training programs for craftsmen to raise handicrafts' quality, as well as training workshops for school students and university students on arts and crafts.
