Snaps of Lady Gaga from the site of “Joker: Folie à Deux” were released, showing the actress as the iconic Harley Quinn.
The “Paparazzi” singer plays the villain in the upcoming sequel. She was photographed filming in New York City complete with the character’s makeup and her trademark outfit.
Margot Robbie previously portrayed the role of Harley Quinn in three DC films.
“It makes me so happy,” she said of Gaga’s announcement of the role, via MTV News. “I said from the beginning all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters that - the way like Macbeth or Batman [do] - always gets passed from great actor to great actor.
“It's such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors get to have a go at playing, and I think she'll do something incredible with it,” she added.
Meanwhile, Joker: Folie à Deux will be released in October 2024, with Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, and director Todd Phillips all due to return.
The new cast includes Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Jacob Lofland.
