Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities inaugurated part of the Babylon Fortress building in the Religious Complex in Old Cairo for a visit, after the completion of the first phase of its restoration work.
On his part, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Museums Projects and General Supervisor of the Historic Cairo Project, Hisham Samir, noted that they inaugurated the part located on the side of the Coptic Museum gate.
Furthermore, Samir affirmed that a cleaning process has been done in the first phase, adding that they also developed the lighting system in all parts of the ring fortress to highlight the architectural beauty of the fort and the original function of the building.
Finally, he revealed that the second phase of restoration work is underway, indicating that it includes restoring the southern part of the fortress located below the hanging church, called “Amr Gate”. The assistant manager asserted that it will be fully open soon to welcome visitors.
