A spokesperson for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry told Al Jazeera that Islamabad will host a virtual signing ceremony tomorrow via video conference to mark a peace agreement between the United States and Iran.
He explained that the ceremony will be held remotely, as part of ongoing diplomatic arrangements between the two sides.
This announcement follows a series of statements indicating significant progress in the negotiations, including confirmation from US officials of reaching a strong understanding with Tehran, and the Iranian Foreign Ministry's statement that the memorandum of understanding could lead to an end to the war.
The Pakistani Prime Minister's office had previously announced that Washington and Tehran were ready to sign a peace agreement soon.
Despite these indications, no official joint statement has yet been issued by the United States or Iran confirming the signing date or revealing the final terms of the agreement.
The international community is awaiting developments in the coming hours, amid talk of arrangements to de-escalate tensions and restore stability to the region.
