The fantasy TV series “Outlander”  has been renewed for its eighth and final season at Starz.

The time-traveling saga won’t end there, though. The network has also greenlighted a prequel series, “Outlander: Blood of my Blood”.

The prequel series will consist of 10 episodes and is based on Diana Gabaldon’s novel, "Blood of My Blood".

It will dive into the love story of Jamie Fraser's parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser.

News of the project began buzzing in the summer of 2021, with the network confirming it was in development last August.

The series' showrunner Matthew B. Roberts revealed the prequel will feature several familiar characters.

The eighth season of “Outlander” will consist of ten episodes, following an extended 16-episode Season 7, which is currently in production in Scotland.

The “Outlander” series is based on Gabaldon’s bestselling book series and first premiered on Starz in 2014.

“Outlander” stars Caitríona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell, David Berry, Caitlin O’Ryan, Paul Gorman, Charles Vandervaart, Izzy Meikle-Small, and Joey Phillips.

The period drama follows Balfe’s Claire Randall as she navigates romantic relationships whilst traveling through time.
