The Sharjah Publishing Sustainability Fund “Onshur,” launched by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, is participating in the Sharjah International Book Fair for the second year, presenting 20 publishing houses that graduated from its “Launch” track. The fund is also receiving applications for its “Innovation” program supporting tech-focused publishing companies.
The Onshur pavilion hosted a series of professional workshops and networking sessions, including a talk with Gaurav Shrinagesh, CEO of Penguin Random House India and Southeast Asia, who discussed global publishing trends, marketing strategies, and data-driven approaches with emerging publishers. The pavilion also welcomed the Sharjah Translation Grant team and facilitated meetings with SBA advisors to help participants access international markets.
Iman Bin Shibah, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Global Markets at SBA, said Onshur provides a comprehensive platform to advance the UAE’s publishing ecosystem. She noted that this year’s cohort returned with around 60 new titles produced during their first year in the industry, supported by dedicated sales space and full logistical assistance.
