The release of the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling romance novel “It Ends With Us” has once again been delayed.
The movie has been pushed back from June 21 to August 9, moving away from Focus Features’ "The Bikeriders" on June 21, which stands as the only wide release. Following Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die on June 7, the month’s box office will get a big boon from Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out 2 on June 14.
The next big tentpole after that is "A Quiet Place: Day One" on June 28, amid a month of adult-skewing titles that include New Line’s "The Watchers" and Kevin Costner’s "Horizon", is Illumination/Universal’s "Despicable Me 4".
Sony Pictures believes the pic will be strong counterprogramming in the early August frame against Lionsgate’s "Borderlands", Amazon MGM’s "The Fire Inside", and Warner Bros’ M. Night Shyamalan genre thriller "The Trap".
“It Ends With Us” stars Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, and more. It follows small-town girl Lily Bloom (Lively), who moves to Boston to start her own business. Though coming from a complicated past, Bloom has always known the life she wants. While living in Boston, she meets neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni) and believes she may very well have found her soul mate.
Soon, however, questions arise about their relationship, and to complicate matters her high school love interest, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), comes back into the picture, putting her relationship with Ryle in jeopardy.
Baldoni directs from a screenplay by Christy Hall based off Hoover’s book. Alex Saks, Jamey Heath, and Hall are producers. Executive producers are Lively, Hoover, Steve Sarowitz, Andrew Calof, and Baldoni.
