Once again, Paramount Pictures has decided to delay the release of “A Quiet Place Part II”.
The post-apocalyptic thriller, directed by John Krasinski and starring Emily Blunt, has been postponed for the third time. It will now open in theaters on September 17.
“A Quiet Place 2” was initially set to be released in March 2020. It was postponed again to April 23, 2021. The first release date delay occurred in the aftermath of the global coronavirus pandemic. At the time, the studio opted to delay the movie during the period of time when it was still unclear how widespread or long-term the pandemic would be.
It eventually turned out, the delay of "A Quiet Place Part II" was just the first of many, many delays for the big studio to premiere in theaters, and as the pandemic extends into its 10th month, Hollywood studios began to postpone another batch of blockbuster-hopefuls.
The delay for a “Quiet Place 2” comes after MGM pushed “No Time to Die”, the latest James Bond sequel, from early April to October.
In November, it was announced the universe of "A Quiet Place" would be expanding with a spinoff movie. The movie is set to be directed by Jeff Nichols and Krasinski producing the spinoff movie. Nichols is also set to write the script for the movie, which is based on an idea from Krasinski.
The next big-budgeted films on the calendar are Disney’s “Black Widow” (May 7), and Universal’s “Fast & Furious” installment “F9” (May 28).
