Omar Khairat to Perform Tonight at Cairo Opera House

Renowned Egyptian musician Omar Khairat and his orchestra will reunite with Cairo’s wide fan base in a big summer concert at Cairo Opera House on Monday as he plays some of his most notable works.

The concerts which will start at eight pm will include a wide range of musical compositions, including: “Arfa”, “Al-Liqaa Al-Thani/the Second Meeting”, “Ghawayesh”, “Executing the Dead”, “Dameer Abla Hekmat” and “100 Years of Cinema”.

In a statement, Cairo Opera House called on Khairat's fans to follow the dress code for men and women, noting that it is forbidden to enter in shorts or T-shirts and facemasks are mandatory. Children under seven years old are not allowed to enter.

Born in Cairo, Khairat joined the Cairo Conservatoire in 1959, studied piano with Italian Maestro Vincenzo Carro, and followed correspondence courses in music theory and composition with Trinity College in England.

Throughout his outstanding career, he has composed musical scores for numerous films and television series, including The Sixth Day (1984), The Terrorist (1993), Mafia (2002), Girl’s Love (2003), The Embassy is in the Building (2005), and ‘Deer’s Blood’ (2006).

He also rearranged some works of the great composer Mohamed Abdel Wahab like Wahabiat 1 and 2 in addition to songs of Um Kulthoum which achieved great success due to his achievement of developing his signature style of composing.
