Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Rahby, Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, affirmed that his country supports any initiative to reach reconciliatory solutions that answer the needs of all parties of the Renaissance Dam built by the Ethiopian on the Blue Nile.

He added that any solution must support both Egypt and Sudan’s rights to the waters of the Nile River.

He stressed that his country supports any movement made by Egypt and Sudan to achieve the aspirations of peoples of the two countries.

He said that Oman puts faith in dialogue as the core of solution through the participation of the international community.

The Omani ambassador addressed the 155th regular session of the Council of the Arab League.

He headed the Omani delegation that is taking part in the meeting of the    Arab Foreign Minister.

Al-Rahby affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman, under the wise leadership of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq,  should follow its approach to strengthen and activate joint Arab action and adopt the option of comprehensive and lasting peace based on the foundations of international legitimacy decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

He added that Oman hopes to re-weave cohesion of Arab relations to unify efforts and translate the desire of the Arab peoples to reunite and coordinate to face the challenges in the region.

The Omani ambassador explained that his country is keen to make every effort with all parties to face the challenges that plague the Arab nation.

He pointed out that Oman does not spare any effort to serve Arab causes, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause that interests all Arabs.

He assured that his country supports the Palestinian brethren to establish their independent state that bases on decisions of international legitimacy and their historical rights.

Al-Rahby affirmed the Sultanate’s firm position on the national issues of the brotherly Arab countries.

He called for the language of dialogue and peace to prevail over the language of arms and discord, explaining that from this standpoint of the Sultanate calls on all parties to support the efforts of the Arab League to achieve peace and stability for all brothers until our countries enjoy stability and prosperity for what is good and in a way that achieves the aspirations of their people.

He referred to Oman’s appreciation of the role of the Arab League’s General Secretariat under the patronage of Ahmed Aboul- Gheit, Secretary-General, in carrying out its responsibility.

He expressed his pleasure to congratulate Abul-Gheit for the confidence he had by heads of Arab states in renewing him for a second term, wishing him success in his mission.

He called for support and cooperation with him in order to achieve the general interests of all Arab countries, especially at this important stage, looking forward to specific work that meets the aspirations of  Arabs to facing these challenges.
