The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, stressed the need to strengthen humanitarian cooperation across the Islamic world to address the growing impact of armed conflicts, natural disasters, and climate change.
In remarks delivered on his behalf by Dr. Aisha Al-Ayafi at the opening of the 39th session of the Islamic Committee of the International Red Crescent in Nouakchott, Mauritania, Taha said greater coordination is essential to build a more effective and sustainable humanitarian system.
He praised the committee’s role in strengthening the capacities of Red Crescent and Red Cross societies in OIC member states and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting relief efforts and expanding international partnerships based on solidarity and mutual assistance.
Taha also thanked Mauritania for hosting the session and commended its support for joint Islamic humanitarian action.
