The Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH), in partnership with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Benin's Ministry of Health, has launched a training program aimed at reducing maternal mortality through improved emergency obstetric care.
The four-day program, running from July 13 to 16 in Cotonou, focuses on the prevention and management of postpartum hemorrhage, one of the leading causes of maternal deaths. The initiative seeks to strengthen the skills of healthcare professionals, improve maternal and newborn health, and enhance the quality of medical services.
Speaking at the opening session, OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Science and Technology Ambassador Aftab Ahmed Khokher praised Benin's commitment to advancing maternal and child healthcare and reaffirmed the OIC's support for strengthening health systems through capacity-building and scientific cooperation across member states.
