Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, reviewed the efforts made officially by his ministry during the previous phase, today, before the plenary session of the House of Representatives (HoR).
He stressed that the axis of building the Egyptian people includes 1199 programs and more than 46 million citizens have benefited from them.
He explained that the focus of building the Egyptian human being was among the priorities through preserving health and practicing sports work, in addition to spreading the spirit of loyalty and belonging and enhancing political participation among youth.
The minister added during his speech before the plenary session headed by Chancellor Hanafi Gabali, Speaker on the HoR, that the ministry is working to develop cultural awareness among young people and encourage them to do volunteer work.
Dr. Sobhi revealed that the Scouts' youth have cleansed youth centers in the context of confronting the Coronavirus crisis.
The minister took pride in the implementation of 144 programs that have benefited at least 2 million young people.
He affirmed that the recreational programs for citizens reached 66 programs, and the number of beneficiaries reached 18 million beneficiaries from 2018 to 2020.
The minister explained that the Egyptian state had succeeded in hosting 11 international championships.
He added that Egypt has succeeded in hosting the current World Handball Championship, explaining that this great tournament is attended by 31 countries.
He pointed out the improvement of Egypt's place on the index of global competitiveness in the field of sports, stressing that Egypt ranked 38 out of 90 countries in the index of sports influential countries.
Sobhi asserted that Egypt has achieved the 56th place out of 205 countries in the international sports index, the 55th out of 206 countries in elite sport, and the improvement of the 6 cities index in the cities of global sporting influence, and those cities ranked first in Africa and the Arab world, and the 29th place out of 140 A country in the index of providing huge stadiums.
