The House of Representatives (HoR) holds its inaugural session tomorrow, Tuesday, amid strict precautionary measures to confront Coronavirus (known also as COVID-19).
Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, affirmed that suitable preparations were taken to hold the opening session.
The previous hours witnessed inspecting the main hall of the HoR as well as sending membership numbers and places to sit for the members.
Fawzi confirmed that the General Secretariat of the HoR does every effort to make the day of the opening session seem like an honorable one for Egypt, stressing that all preparations related to the opening session are made in light of the measures of the Corona crisis, which represents a global pandemic.
Fawzi added that the Egyptian Parliament is one of the institutions that have been able to work despite the pandemic since last March.
The House of Representatives announced its agenda for its inaugural session scheduled to be held tomorrow, Tuesday.
Fawzi assured that the lawmakers will swear in inpidually according to the electoral allots 50% of the seats to inpiduals and, 50% to the electoral lists, revealing that the main hall was pided according to the 3 levels to avoid crowdiness as a precautionary measure.
He went on to say that the Speaker and his two deputies will be elected following swearing the oath of office on Tuesday, stressing that all precautionary measures have been taken, such as wearing a mask, thermal detection, using disinfectants, and other measures.
He indicated that the session will be broadcast on the air, and the members should not leave the council unless the constitutional oath is due and the speaker and the two deputies are elected, urging them not to accompany their escorts
The precautionary measures include piding the deputies into two parts at the time of the constitutional performance of oath.
According to the precautionary measures and social distancing, the main hall holds 248 seats, the upper balcony at the second level holds 39 seats, and the upper balcony at the third level holds 36 seats.
