As part of the intensive preparations for the highly anticipated opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) on November 1, 2025, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has officially launched the museum’s new official website, serving as a comprehensive digital gateway for visitors to explore the museum’s vision, mission, history, partners, and Board of Trustees, as well as its wide range of events, services, and unique experiences.
The website features interactive sections providing visitors with guidelines on how to reach the museum, available transportation options, visiting details and schedules, and the ability to book and purchase tickets online safely and conveniently. It also introduces users to the commercial district, which includes a distinguished collection of restaurants, cafés, shops, and gardens.
The “Happening Now” section highlights the latest news, conferences, and temporary exhibitions taking place at the museum. Meanwhile, the Collections section showcases Egypt’s most treasured artifacts and unique antiquities, alongside comprehensive information about the museum’s Conservation and Restoration Center. Visitors can also explore the museum’s full experience, including the Children’s Museum, Education Center, Arts and Handicrafts Center, and the Accessibility Guide, as well as the mixed-reality experience—a first-of-its-kind interactive cultural experience in the region.
Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, emphasized that launching the new website represents the first step in a visitor’s journey to the Grand Egyptian Museum. It allows guests to familiarize themselves with the exceptional and diverse experiences offered, enabling them to plan their visit in advance and select the activities that match their interests, while engaging with the museum’s digital content before their actual visit.
The Minister added that this step contributes significantly to boosting tourism and promoting both the museum and Egypt as a cultural destination, serving as a model for integrating technology to enhance the cultural and touristic experience.
Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum, explained that the launch of the website reflects the museum’s long-standing strategic partnerships, noting that it is the result of collaboration between local and international teams, primarily the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Microsoft. He described it as an important milestone toward delivering a world-class museum experience that combines authenticity with cutting-edge innovation.
Dr. Mohamed Shaaban, Assistant Minister for Digital Services, noted that the website was designed according to the highest standards of efficiency and user-friendliness, ensuring an optimal digital experience for visitors.
He added that the design aims to make information and services easily accessible to the public, aligning with global best practices in digital experience design and reflecting the Grand Egyptian Museum’s prestigious status as one of the largest archaeological museums in the world.
