Egyptian museums, across all governorates, are displaying military artifacts from their collections in a special exhibition held within the framework of October war anniversary celebrations.
“The display of all the pieces will continue till the end of the current month. The pieces vary between tools that were used in wars, statues of leaders, kings, and soldiers who participated in wars throughout the different ages of the ancient Egyptian civilization,” Moamen Othman, head of the museums' sector said.
The Egyptian Museum in Al Tahrir district in Cairo, is displaying Tharu’s stelae panel, depicting a military leader during the reign of King Ramses II.
The Kom Oshim Museum in Fayoum is showcasing a ship and tools used in combat, while Mallawi Museum in Minya is displaying the statue of the goddess Sekhmet, the goddess of power and war.
The Museum of Islamic Art has put on show a collection of daggers, and the Alexandria National Museum is exhibiting a statue depicting the King of War Thutmosis III in a sphinx shape.
The Royal Vehicles Museum is displaying a picture of Ibrahim Pasha, the most brilliant army leader in the nineteenth century, in formal clothes, wearing medals.
In the same context, Gayer- Anderson Museum, located in Cairo, has opened a temporary exhibition of antiquities entitled "Weapons Throughout the Ages", which houses 25 artifacts; such as a group of weapons, swords, treachery, rifles, gunpowder relics, and helmets that are used to protect the head during war battles. All of them dated back to different eras, starting from the pre-dynastic times until the end of the modern era.
The museum also displays an exhibition of plastic art under the title “Eagles and Angels”, which includes portraits of the recent military operations’ martyrs.
