No US negotiators are attending consultations on Iran taking place in Oman on Saturday, according to CBS News, citing a White House official.

According to CBS, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are not participating in the talks. No US technical team has been deployed, with Washington instead maintaining remote discussions with Omani and Qatari officials as negotiations continue.

The development comes a day after CBS reported that President Donald Trump had instructed Vance, Rubio and other senior officials to continue negotiations with Iran. Trump said the US had agreed to resume talks at Iran's request, while declaring that the ceasefire was over.

According to Iran's Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met his Omani counterpart, Badr Albusaidi, in Muscat to discuss security in the Strait of Hormuz. The talks focused on establishing mechanisms to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the strategic waterway under Article 5 of the US-Iran memorandum.
