The organizers of the upcoming grand Formula Race at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) announced that no changes for the schedule of the event will take place, F1 said in a statement.
It asserted: "Formula 1 and the (governing body) FIA can confirm that following discussions with all the teams and drivers, the 2022 FIA Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will continue as scheduled."
The statement was released a day after the latest Houthi attacks against Aramco's facilities at Jedda, 11 kilometers away from the location of F1 competitions.
Therefore, it commented on the latest attacks, saying: “Following the widely reported incident that took place in Jeddah on Friday, there has been extensive discussion between all stakeholders, the Saudi government authorities and security agencies who have given full and detailed assurances that the event is secure.”
The 20 participants of the race told reporters that they were practicing at the location of the F1 Grand Prix before the attacks, and they continued their training regardless of them.
F1 President Stefano Domenicali revealed that they receive support from the drivers to continue the practice and the race.
"They have placed all the systems to protect this area. So, we feel confident that we have to trust the local authority in that respect. We will of course go ahead with the event," he added.
