On behalf of Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Dr. Maissara Abdallah, Deputy CEO for Archaeological Affairs, participated in the International Festival "Intermuseum 2024" held in Moscow, Russia, under the title "Museums Are People."
The participation came at the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Culture.
The festival included several lectures and discussion sessions with wide participation from museums around the world and experts specializing in museums, facilitating the exchange of expertise among them.
Dr. Abdallah participated in one of the festival's discussion panels, opened by Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, titled "The Importance of Cultural Heritage and Its Role in Capital Development."
He reviewed the history of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, its role as a comprehensive cultural and scientific beacon that contributes to the understanding of Egyptian civilization, protects Egyptian heritage, and provides necessary cultural services and activities for visitors.
The session also saw the participation of 250 experts and specialists from leading cultural and museum institutions worldwide, discussing modern museum practices.
On the sidelines of his participation in the festival, the Deputy CEO of the museum held several professional meetings to explore ways to enhance cooperation between Russian museums and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
He also gave a lecture at the National Museum in Moscow, discussing the economic and cultural impact of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and its pioneering role in community development.
The lecture was attended by many people interested in museums and cultural heritage management in Russia.
Participants in the festival included Mikhail Shvydkoy, Special Representative of the President for International Cultural Cooperation, Elena Kharlamova, Head of Museums and International Relations Department at Ministry of Culture, Sergey Novikov, Head of Public Projects Department under Russian Presidency, Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the Hermitage Museum and President of the Russian Union of Museums, Alexey Levykin, Director of the State Historical Museums, and Semyon Mikhailovsky, President of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts.
