The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization organized an exhibition on Coptic art masterpieces under the theme of "The Annunciation."
The exhibition was organized on the occasion of Christmas.
The Executive Director of the NMEC Dr. Al-Tayeb Abbas said that the exhibition provided a unique opportunity for lovers of Coptic heritage and art to explore aspects of Egyptian heritage that reflect values of tolerance and peace.
He emphasized the role of art in promoting these values among people and promoting cultural diversity.
This initiative reflects the museum’s mission to highlight cultural and heritage-related festivities, raising archaeological and cultural awareness.
On her side, NMEC Official Dr. Nashwa Jaber explained that the exhibition lasts until the end of January and features a unique collection of artifacts showcasing unique Coptic art.
There are several icons related to the Nativity of Jesus Christ, various Coptic symbols executed in different artistic techniques, wooden artifacts, as well as ceramic and pottery items historically used in monasteries and churches.
The exhibition presents a collection of paintings by renowned international artists depicting The Annunciation, including works by some of the most famous painters of the European Renaissance.
A replica of the manger where Jesus Christ was born is also exhibited, along with a series of documentary videos about the Journey of the Holy Family in Egypt.
