The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) organized a workshop about archaeogenetic analysis and its latest developed applications.
The workshop was organized in cooperation with Nottingham Trent University.
Groups of experts and students participated in the session.
Dr. Badawy Ismail, the workshop's moderator, cited Dr. Ahmed Ghonim, the executive director of the NMEC operating committee, that this session represented the scientific role of the museum as it contains upgraded research labs and experts, in addition to its interesting cooperation with Nottingham Trent University.
On his side, Dr. Yehia Zakaria Gad, the professor of Medical Molecular Genetics and the Scientific Supervisor of the ancient DNA lab at the NMEC, said that the program contained several lectures about studying ancient DNA, analyzing it, and tracing its origins to prove any mummies identity. Also, it will help to identify old diseases.
Several experts, and professors, including two professors from Nottingham University, participated in the event.
