NMEC Celebrates New Year

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Fustat organized an artistic and cultural workshop to celebrate the beginning of the New Year and the glorious Christmas holidays.

Entitled: "The Ancient Egyptian Calendar", the workshop aimed at increasing the cultural, archaeological, and tourism awareness of school and university students, according to a statement.

Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the NMEC, said that this workshop came as a part of a series of edutainment events held by the museum within the framework of its educational and artistic programs.

In turn, Mrs. Fayrouz Fikry, Executive Vice President of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization Authority for Management and Operations, noted that a large number of museum visitors from different age groups participated in the workshop, pointing out that the museum is scheduled to host such activities and events during the coming period, especially in conjunction with the mid-year vacation.

On her part, Professor Nermin Mostafa, an art specialist at the museum, said that the workshop included a scientific lecture during which the calendar was identified in different civilizations, especially ancient Egyptians.
