Alejandro Amenábar’s 2001 gothic supernatural psychological horror movie, "The Others", is a successful project that can certainly continue to be enjoyed by viewers today.

The English-language Spanish movie is set at the end of World War 2 and stars Nicole Kidman as Grace Stewart, the widowed mother of two young children—Anne (Alakina Mann) and Nicholas (James Bentley)— who move to a new house in Jersey on the British countryside, which is shrouded in fog and isolated from society.

Grace doesn't know what's happened to her missing husband, awaiting news of his whereabouts. In the meantime, she keeps her children protected from the sun as they suffer from an extreme sensitivity to light.

Anne believes that she can see ghosts and Grace grows suspicious of the house servants thinking they're playing tricks. However, as the intensity of the film builds, it seems that there is far more to Grace's household and life than she realizes.

The thriller was one of the best of the decade, blending twists the audiences didn’t see coming with a staggering performance from Kidman, who doesn’t often step into horror movies.

Now, the Australian-American actress is ready to return to the genre with filmmaker Justin Kurzel more than two decades later.

During a conversation with Collider to discuss his latest movie "The Order", Kurzel spilled the tea about a project that he’s working on with the iconic actress, which is still in the early stages.

“It’s a horror film called Mice that Shaun Grant is also writing and that Nicole Kidman’s producing and also going to be in. We’re just developing it and writing it at the moment," he said. "I’ve always flirted around it a little bit with certain projects in the past, but being a big fan of the genre, I think you can do some really interesting stuff with it. It’s become something I’ve started to focus more on in terms of just finding the right thing that I could do for the first time,”.

Recognizing the popularity behind the genre, Kurzel is ready to go all in with the production, telling the outlet: “In some sense, the genre is the star in a way. It’s so interesting how that genre just seems to capture. Like my daughter’s really fascinated and interested in horror, and I’ve been watching a lot of horror films through them — not only present ones but also ones from the past. It’s really interesting how it captivates an audience like no other genre.”
