Production began on Universal pictures' monster movie “Renfield”.
The studio made the announcement on social media accounts with the simple caption, “And it begins…🧛♂️”.
The post also featured a photo of the official film slate showing off the logo which has the Renfield title in the same font as Universal’s original Dracula movie, released in 1931.
The movie is based on the character of Renfield, who was first introduced in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel “Dracula“.
It stars Hollywood features Nicolas Cage as Dracula while English actor Nicholas Hoult is starring as the titular character, the vampire count’s loyal follower and an unhinged acolyte patient in an asylum with an obsession for drinking blood, deluded into thinking he will find immortality.

Chris McKay is directing from a script by Ryan Ridley and a story by “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman.
Awkwafina will also star in the movie.
McKay and Kirkman are producing alongside David Alpert, Bryan Furst, and Sean Furst with McKay’s producing partner, Samantha Nisenboim, exec producing.
