More details have emerged about the deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner.
Death certificates revealed the couple died of “multiple sharp force injuries” as a result of “homicide” and “with knife, by another”.
The documents, released by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, disclosed the time between the beginning of the attack and their deaths as “minutes”.
It also reveals Rob Reiner’s body was found at 15:45 and Michele Reiner’s at 15:46. The time and date of death are listed as “unknown”.
The couple were found dead at their Brentwood home on Sunday, December 14.
The Reiners’ son Nick has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the alleged killing of his parents.
If found guilty, he could face the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole. The younger Reiner has not entered a plea. The next hearing has been set for January 7.
Along with a friend, the couple’s daughter Romy, discovered her parents' bodies in their bedroom on December 14.
She had been alerted when the couple did not answer a scheduled visitor at the security buzzer on their home.
A 911 call around 3:38 pm PT soon afterwards on that first night of Hanukkah brought medical assistance and law enforcement to the Brentwood home.
The Reiners’ children released a statement earlier this week that a memorial service for their parents is being planned. “Jake and Romy Reiner remain grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received. They will share information about a memorial service honoring their parents at a later date.”
