Egyptian actress Mai Ezz Eldin is on the way to recovery.
Ezz Eldin's husband, pharmacist and nutritionist Ahmed Taymour Khalil, broke the news on Friday on Instagram stories and asked her fans to pray for her recovery.
Khalil explained his wife had been experiencing health complications two weeks before Ramadan, which required her to be hospitalized a week ago.
He added that Ezz Eldin underwent hours-long surgery on Friday and was then transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) after undergoing surgery for close medical monitoring.
The nature of the surgery and the medical complication were not disclosed at the time.
A medical report of Ezz Eldin's health condition has revealed a widespread accumulation of pus throughout most of her abdomen and around the intestines, which caused adhesions and pressure on the pelvic area. This required urgent surgical intervention to separate the intestinal adhesions and clean the abdomen and pelvis of the infection.
Khalil also shared an update on his wife's condition and reassured fans she has been gradually improving and was transferred out of the intensive care unit, although she remains in the hospital.

Born on January 19, 1980, Ezz Eldin made her acting debut in the 2001 romantic film "Rehlet Hob," starring late legend Gamil Ratib and famed singer Mohamed Fouad.

Ezz Eldin boosted her career with films "Kalam Mama" and the rom-com franchise “Omar & Salma” co-starring Tamer Hosny.
Her film credits also include "Farah", "Khiana Mashroaa", and "Habibi Na'eman".
