Andy Serkis may have spilt the beans on a new character for Marvel’s "Avengers: Doomsday".
In an interview with CinemaHub, Serkis and Iman Vellani spoke about their upcoming movies, including "Avengers: Doomsday," to which Serkis stated, "I'm excited to see you in Doomsday." Vellani immediately shut the actor down and said, "No, you can't say that."
The exchange between the two actors started very friendly, with Vellani expressing excitement over seeing Serkis direct and reprise his iconic role as Gollum in "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum," which will be released in theaters on December 17, 2027.
After Serkis let it slip that Vellani would be appearing in "Avengers: Doomsday, though, the interview got a little awkward, with both actors attempting to cover their tracks and pretend like a major spoiler hasn't been uncovered.
"If there should ever be the chance to see you in a film like Doomsday," Serkis said, with Vellani adding, "If there is a chance, like Doomsday, but Gollum's happening for sure." The clip ended with them awkwardly laughing.
Serkis is best known for playing Gollum in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films, a franchise that began in 2001 with The Fellowship of the Ring.
The iconic and beloved franchise has grossed $5.9 billion at the box office and will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this December.
Other Middle-earth projects have been released in recent years, but the canon that director Peter Jackson built over two decades ago will be expanding when Serkis steps behind the camera to direct "The Hunt for Gollum".
Fourteen years after making his debut as Gollum, Serkis joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ulysses Klaue in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," "Black Panther," and "What If...?"
Vellani also has a history in the MCU. She first starred on the Disney+ series "Ms. Marvel" as Kamala Khan, a character who idolizes Brie Larson's Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel.
Larson made a brief appearance at the end of the final episode that teased her and Vellani's team-up in the sequel film, "The Marvels".
Vellani's most recent Marvel project was voicing Kamala in the animated series "Marvel Zombies".
Disney and Marvel Studios haven't confirmed whether Vellani is a part of the cast of "Avengers: Doomsday," which will see several MCU characters teaming up to defeat villain Doctor Doom, played by franchise vet Robert Downey Jr.
The Russo Brothers, who helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, are back as directors, with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely as screenwriters.
Avengers: Doomsday is expected to be the biggest MCU team-up since Endgame. In the years since that $2.79 billion film was released, several new characters have joined the franchise, including Shang-Chi, Ms. Marvel, Deadpool, and the Fantastic Four.
There might be multiple characters in Doomsday that Disney has not publicly announced yet, but with Serkis seemingly confirming Ms. Marvel's return, it appears Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo are not the only Marvel stars prone to revealing spoilers.
"Avengers: Doomsday" will be released in theaters on Friday, December 18, 2026.
