The Faculty of Applied Arts at Helwan University witnessed the graduation of a new batch from the Metals and Jewelry Department for 2022.
The ceremony was attended by Ahmed Rashid, Governor of Giza, Maysoon Kotb, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts, and Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed, Head of the Metals and Jewelry Department, as well as a number of elite members of the teaching staff.
On his part, Ahmed stated that the department's policy aims to link the educational process to the needs and requirements of the market so that students can easily integrate into the industry.
In exclusive statements to SEE News, he noted that the graduation projects this year projected new ideas and a different philosophy in the design of jewelry.
The projects also highlighted the convergence of the Cyrillic school, folk and heritage arts, Nubian art, Coptic and Islamic art, in addition to the works of Hussein Bakkar.
He also indicated that students used different techniques such as welding, smelting, and printing on metals, rubies, and enamels.
The head of the department affirmed that Applied Arts seeks to qualify students to enter the labor market through the latest technology in the design and production of jewelry.
