Neve Campbell is back to face Ghostface in the first official trailer for “Scream 7.”
The seventh installment was announced in August 2023 after the success of “Scream VI.”
Since the project was announced, “Scream 7” has had major shakeups with production delays from the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, creative overhaul, and some cast members not returning for the latest entry.
Melissa Barrera, who starred in the previous two films as Sam Carpenter, was removed from the cast due to her pro-Palestinian posts.
Jenna Ortega, who co-starred with Barrera as her onscreen sister Tara Carpenter, dropped out of the film due to a scheduling conflict with shooting Netflix’s “Wednesday.”
Additionally, “Happy Death Day” director Christopher Landon exited the project in December of 2023 and was replaced with Kevin Williamson, who is also the creator of the franchise.
Despite the major changes, “Scream 7” will feature familiar faces. David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley are reprising their deceased characters from past films, and Campbell is back leading the franchise in her iconic role as Sidney Prescott.
The film also includes legacy cast members Courteney Cox as well as Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, alongside newcomers Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mark Consuelos, and Ethan Embry.
“Scream 7” will release in theaters on February 27, 2026.
