Netflix goes behind the scenes and into the WWE writers’ room in "WWE: Unreal", a new docuseries set for premiere this summer.
While the full details remain under wraps, the docuseries will feature favorite WWE superstars outside of the ring, according to the streamer, “where the drama is just as intense offstage as it is under the spotlight.”
"WWE: Unreal" is part of Netflix’s expanding partnership with WWE, which kicked off in January with Raw, streaming live on Netflix on Mondays at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT.
The landmark 10-year, $5B+ deal with WWE makes the streamer the exclusive home of Raw in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Latin America. Additional territories from Netflix’s footprint of more than 190 will be added over time.
Under the deal, in addition to Monday Night RAW, Netflix is home for all WWE shows and specials outside the U.S, including other weekly shows SmackDown, and NXT.
Also under the pact, Netflix will stream the company’s roster of live events like WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Royal Rumble and make WWE documentaries, original series, and forthcoming projects available on demand outside the U.S. (Peacock, via the WWE hub it originated in 2021, has domestic rights.)
Since the premiere, dozens of superstars have stepped into the WWE Raw ring, including The Rock, John Cena, and “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes.
Chris Weaver directs the 10-episode/50-minute "WWE: Unreal series", and Erik Powers serves as showrunner. Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ross Ketover, Keith Cossrow, Ken Rodgers, Jessica Boddy, Lee Fitting, Ben Houser, and Marc Pomarico executive produce.
"WWE: Unreal" is produced by Omaha Productions, NFL Films, Skydance Sport,s and WWE.
