The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NEMC) in Fustat, hosted a musical concert commemorating the 100th death anniversary of musician Sayed Darwish.
This event that took place at NEMC's Grand Theatre was organized in collaboration with the Friends of the Museum Association and the Ghataty Tires and Batteries Group.
The concert featured a selection of Sayed Darwish's most prominent works, performed by artist Mohamed Mohsen and his musical band and was attended by a large audience, including current and former ministers, foreign ambassadors to Egypt, public figures, and artists such as Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, Ibrahim Mehleb, former Prime Minister, and Ghada Wali, Assistant Secretary-General of the UNOCD.
Dr. Ashraf El-Arabi, President of the Friends of the Museum Association, and members of the Association, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities were also present, together with fans and admirers of art and Sayed Darwish’s music.
The ceremony began with a speech by Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Museum Authority, who expressed his happiness at the event, emphasizing the importance of the cultural dimension of Arabic music and singing.
He also noted that the event was the first artistic presentation by the Friends of the Museum Association, shedding light on the artistic heritage and legacy of Sayed Darwish, an influential figure in modern Arabic music.
In turn, Poet Jamal Bakhit highlighted Sayed Darwish's legacy, sharing details about the artist's life, his notable works, and famous compositions.
