NEEC Hosts Festival of Handing over Awards of 13th Edition of EU Competition for Photography

The National Museum for Egyptian Civilization (NEEC) has hosted the festival of handing over awards of the 13th edition of the Annual Competition mounted by the European Union (EU) for photography.

This year's theme of the competition is" a journey to Egypt's past and future".

The competition was organized in cooperation between the EU office in Cairo, Ministries of Tourism &Antiquities, Environment, State for Information.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, Ambassador Christian Berger, Ambassador of the European Union in Cairo, Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Hossam Mohsen, Assistant Minister of State for Information, Ambassador Badr Abdel-Aty, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs, and Ambassador Raouf Saad, Head of the National Office To implement the Association Agreement between Egypt and the European Union.

Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, on behalf of Dr. Khalid Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism &Antiquities, delivered a speech in which he conveyed the greetings and welcome of the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities to the winners and all those present.

He also spoke about the title of the competition this year, "A Journey to Egypt's Past and Future", and that the parade of royal mummies that the world witnessed last April embodies this title as it links the past and the present.

He highlighted the museum and its technological means, and that it is not only halls for displaying artifacts, but it is A cultural beacon.

Dr. Ghoneim also thanked those in charge of the idea of the competition, which achieved the desired goal, and he also honored the winners of the competition.

For his part, Mr. Maged Abu Sedira, Head of the International Tourism Sector at the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation, pointed out that this year's competition sheds light on the beauty of historical monuments in Egypt, distinguished modern projects, and the link between Egypt's civilization and modern sustainable development projects implemented in many fields.

This year, 642 photographers participated in the competition with more than 1,600 photos.

Abu Sedira explained that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities honored two of the winners by presenting them with a prize, a tourist trip to Hurghada, as a special prize for highlighting the beauty and antiquity of the tourist and archaeological sites through the pictures they participated in.

The Ministry of Environment also presented, through "Eco Egypt". A special award for one of the winners for his photo in the “Blue Hole” in Dahab, which is a trip to the Nabq Reserve in South Sinai. Two of the winners also received an honorary shield from the Ministry of State for Information for their photos that enhance Egypt’s vision 2030 by highlighting the country’s achievements in various areas of sustainable development. The participants with the best 30 photos were also awarded with certificates of appreciation.
