Police Museum in the Citadel opened in 1984 and the museum building was actually as military prison of citadel which was transformed into the police museum via a decree by former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak.
The Museum is a huge building with small windows that were once probably used by archers. The gate itself is ancient, decorated with simple old Islamic arabesque.

Museum's six halls houses different collections of police weapons from the ancient Egyptian period to present, extending to Egypt's Islamic era.
Inside the museum, there are also some shields and helmets from the Islamic Period. It has Arabic sentences from the Qura’n to protect the soldier who wore it.
Collections of police weapons from ancient Egyptian period
The first hall in Museum displays a number of weapons that were used by the Egyptian Police in different eras of the Egyptian history. This includes a large wooden stick that was used as a shield during the Pharaonic period.
This hall include a large collection of modern weapons such as; guns and pistols that were mainly manufactured by the British who used to import a lot of their products to Egypt during their occupation of the country at the beginning of the 20th century.

In addition the Police Museum illustrates the battles that took place in Ismailia in 1951, through many real photographs of the officers who participated in this battle, a number of paintings and some of the weapons used in the battle.

The crime and criminals hall is the most interesting in this museum, this section includes the photos and stories of the most famous criminals in Egypt, such as; Reyya and Sakina. Also, there are displays of printing machines and of counterfeit bills that look very real.
