The organizing committee of NASA's International Space Apps Challenge has selected Mina Ezzat, a graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the German University in Cairo (GUC), as a jury member in the competition held in Cairo for the fifth consecutive year and organized by the Youth Association of the Egyptian Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
Ezzat is the second graduate of the GUC to be selected by NASA for such tasks. Akram Abdel Latif" graduate of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, was chosen to be part of the exploration team, specialized in the field of Earth‐Oriented Space Science.
In the presence of the Egyptian scientist Farouk El-Baz, and the scientific adviser to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, up to 120 teams will compete for the best innovative solutions to the combined challenges in the areas of Earth - Environment - Outer Space.
Ezzat explained that he is currently working with a group of students from several universities to find technological solutions to the problems of education in Egypt by launching an electronic platform called "Nagah" to provide a full explanation and detailed answers for subjects as well as provide pre-university students with the video conference feature for more interaction, to help fight private lessons.
It is worth mentioning that Ezzat received an MBA from the GUC and was awarded, out of 4,000 applicants, a scholarship by the Pioneers 2030 initiative for the Professional Master's Degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management from the University of Cambridge, UK.
Also, he participated in the World Youth Forum held in Sharm El Sheikh 2018 under the patronage of President Sisi, where he delivered a speech to spread the culture of entrepreneurship in Egypt and to encourage youth to innovate.
Moreover, Ezzat was also selected as a member of the regional qualifying committee for the Hult Prize, which was held in Cairo last April, where he was invited to attend the finals at the UN headquarters with former US President Bill Clinton.
