Naguib Mahfouz Museum organized an exhibition and conference titled "The Great Author Sabry Mousa... A Renewed Legacy."

The event, held on Sunday, January 19, commenced at noon and brought together a distinguished gathering of writers, intellectuals, media figures, and academics.

The event featured two main symposiums. The first related to Mousa's literary works with contributions from iconic cultural figures such as Dr. Hussein Hammouda, Mohamed Baghdadi, Dr. Aidi Ali Gomaa, Ihab Al-Hadhari, Gaber Basyouni, Shahenda Al-Bajouri, and Aisha Mohamed Ezz El-Arab.

The second focused on the film adaptations that were introduced by Mousa, featuring insights from Dr. Thanaa Hashem, Ayman El-Hakim, Hussein Othman, and Abdullah Gad, along with participation from the writer Anas Al-Wogood Radwan, Mousa’s widow.

The event also included an exhibition, scripted by journalist Tarek Al-Taher, showcased "The Journey of Sabry Mousa through the Writings of Prominent Authors." It included 40 panels that chronicled the life and career of this extraordinary figure in Arab and global culture. Mousa's versatile talent enriched literature and cinema, creating enduring works that reached a vast readership and captivated film audiences.

Dr. Thanaa Hashem of the Cinema Institute analyzed Mousa’s screenplays and highlighted how his contributions elevated literary adaptations to cinematic masterpieces.

She noted that Mousa's unparalleled imagination made him uniquely capable of adapting his novel The Corruption of Places into a screenplay, a feat few others could achieve.

On her side, Ghada Mousa, Mousa's niece, shared a memory from author Yehia Haqqi, who once told Mousa, "You brought me closer to people."

This sentiment was echoed by director of photography Sameh Selim, Mousa’s relative, who praised Mousa’s ability to transform literary words into authentic cinematic imagery.

Selim added, "Mousa was a talented writer who maintained the original spirit of the author while adding credibility and sincerity to his adaptations."

Mousa remains a towering figure whose works continue to inspire generations, leaving an indelible mark on the worlds of literature and cinema.

This celebration not only honored his legacy but also reflected his values and creativity in the hearts of attendees.

The exhibition also unveiled a lesser-known aspect of Mousa's life: his personal library, filled with books inscribed by prominent writers who dedicated their works to him.

These dedications ranged from personal admiration to artistic appreciation, with messages like Fathi Ghanem’s "With my admiration and personal appreciation." Other dedications referred to Mousa as an "artist," "innovator," "friend," and even "a part of my passion."
