Trinidadian-born rapper Nicki Minaj, Colombian singer-songwriter Maluma, and Lebanese singer Myriam Fares dropped their celebratory new World Cup song “Tukoh Taka” on Friday.

“Tukoh Taka” is produced by Gordo, Play-N-Skillz, and Massari, which makes it the first FIFA World Cup song featuring English, Spanish and Arabic lyrics.

“I am so happy to be part of this FIFA World Cup anthem! I always dreamt of an opportunity like this,” Maluma said in a statement. “Representing Latin music on this global track alongside amazing artists that sing in English and Arabic, takes our culture to another level.”

On her part, Fares noted: “‘Tukoh Taka’, the song that I was honored to participate in its composition, arrangement, and choreography, made me more passionate about it, in addition to working alongside two of my favorite international artists, Nicki Minaj and Maluma. I truly wish that ‘Tukoh Taka’ will be transmitting Eastern culture and Arabian music to the whole world.”

Fares was criticized by a number of people on social media that she was trying to mimic Shakira’s dance moves in the music video. A user on Twitter wrote that the Lebanese artist is far away from the iconic Shakira who is the World Cup’s queen.

On Saturday, Maluma and Fares will perform the song together live for the first time at the opening of Doha’s FIFA Fan Festival.

Meanwhile, the 2022 World Cup opening ceremony in Qatar will take place on 20 November, ahead of the opening Group A match between hosts Qatar and Ecuador.

South Korean boy band BTS affirmed that Jungkook, one of the group's seven members, will perform at the ceremony. Other names reported to be involved in the opening ceremony include the Black Eyed Peas, Robbie Williams, and Nora Fatehi, according to The Telegraph.
