Museum of Islamic Art to Organize 2 Exhibitions on Museum’s 117th Anniversary

Museum of Islamic Art will organize two exhibitions at the Baron Empain Palace on 28 December.

The first one is “Konoz Min El Rosas” (Treasures from Lead), and the second is “Min Bab El Khalq Ela Heliopolis” (From Heliopolis to Bab El Khalq). Both exhibitions will last until 13 January 2021.

Dr. Mahmoud Othman, the general manager of the museum, expressed that “Konoz Min El Rosas” exhibition is considered the first one in Egypt and the middle east which displays works carved on the pencils for famous antiquities.

Also, these pieces will be watched through magnifying devices beside exhibiting real photos of the antiquities’ real shape.

He added that those pieces are deeply connected to the history of Baron Empain Palace.

Regarding “Min Bab El Khalq Ela Heliopolis” exhibition, Dr. Basma Selim, the General Manager of the palace, highlighted that 35 photos of the displayed antiquities at the Museum of Islamic Art will be exhibited at the palace asserting the mutual artistic features of both places.

In the same context, a number of celebrations, workshops, and seminars will be held on the sidelines of the exhibitions.

On 28 December, the audience can visit the museum for free on the occasion of the 117th anniversary of it according to an approved decision by Tourism and Antiquities Minister Dr. Khaled El Enani.

In order to encourage the Egyptians to visit museums, and archaeological sites, a number of tour guides will accompany the visitors during touring the museum.

Also, all protective measures against the COVID-19 outbreak are strictly followed and applied inside the archaeological and touristic sites.
